Course Requirements
- Student must have a current Seaplane Rating.
- Student must also have a current medical.
Accommodations
- All hotel accommodations and transportation is the responsibility of the student.
- Seaplane Safety Institute will provide transportation to and from the Marine Survival training facility.
- The Students are given an hour for lunch during their time at the Seaplane Safety Institute.
Course Materials
- Applicant is responsible for bringing all materials in the checklist (please see checklist)
Marine Survival Training
- Marine Survival Training must be completed every two years.
- If the student has already completed a USGA approved maritime water safety course, proof of that completion needs to be provided to Seaplane Safety Institute in order to comply with the initial and recurrent course requirements.
- During the Marine Survival Training, lunch is provided by the training facility.
Pass
- After completing ground school training and actual flight training, there will be a check ride at the end of the third day.
- A student will receive a certificate of completion when all training is considered passed. The certificate is valid for one year.
Fail
- If at the end of the course the student had not passed the check ride, they may sign up for additional flight training or end the course without completion.
- Additional flight training must be done within 90 days of the last date of training.
- If the student fails to comply within 90 days, the course must be taken again in full.
Eligibility for Recurrent Training
- All training courses will expire a year after the certificate date and recurrent training will be due.
There is a 30 day grace period after the expiration. If the recurrent course is not taken before the end of the grace period, the student will be ineligible to take the Recurrent Training Course and will be required to retake the Initial Training Course.
